A Transformational Investment in Israel’s Future

Canadian Friends of Bar-Ilan University is proud to announce a visionary gift from Linda and Sigmund (Siggy) z”l Soudack that will help shape the future of Israeli innovation, education, health, and security.

This extraordinary commitment will establish a lasting legacy at Bar-Ilan University by launching three major initiatives to support outstanding students and advance Israel’s leadership in semiconductor technology.

The Soudack Family Gift stands as a lasting tribute to Siggy’s remarkable journey and to the values that guided his life: resilience, excellence, compassion, and a steadfast belief in securing a strong future for Israel and the Jewish people.

Born in Ukraine, Siggy lost his parents, Israel and Bronya Zylber z”l, during the Holocaust. In 1948, he was adopted by George and Mollie Soudack of Winnipeg and given the opportunity to build a new life in Canada. After earning a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Manitoba, he founded Sigmund Soudack and Associates, one of Canada’s leading structural engineering firms.

Deeply committed to justice, human rights, Holocaust education, Zionism, and philanthropy, together with Linda, they have supported numerous charitable causes and championed the transformative power of education.

Bar-Ilan is honoured to accept this gift and announce the following highly impactful programs:

The Soudack System-on-Chip Lab (SSOC)
A state-of-the-art laboratory dedicated to chip design and fabrication, The Soudack System-on-Chip Lab will provide students and researchers with advanced equipment, fabrication resources, and laboratory infrastructure, fostering groundbreaking innovation in one of Israel’s most strategically important industries.

The Soudack Scholars Program
Exceptional students who demonstrate outstanding academic potential, will be awarded the distinction of being named a Soudack Scholar. Qualifying students will receive financial support to help ensure they can pursue their education and their dreams of being part of Israel’s future technological leadership.

The Soudack Award
Presented annually to the top student or students who demonstrate exceptional promise in chip design and fabrication. In addition to receiving support to offset tuition and associated expenses, a Soudack Award winner will be given the rare opportunity to work alongside Israel’s leading engineers and researchers in the Soudack System-on-Chip Lab.

The Soudack family is helping shape the lives of promising young scholars as they realize their academic potential while strengthening Israel’s position as a global leader in semiconductor development and technological innovation.

Their generosity will have a lasting and far-reaching impact on the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators whose discoveries will contribute to the health, security, and prosperity of Israel and the world.

Canadian Friends of Bar-Ilan University extends its deepest gratitude to Linda and Siggy z”l Soudack for their vision, leadership, and commitment to building a brighter future.

Impacting tomorrow, today.
