Researchers at Bar-Ilan University have found that physics, specifically power-law scaling—a concept used to explain phenomena ranging from earthquakes to linguistics—could help tackle significant challenges in artificial intelligence (AI).
This approach, detailed in a recent study published in Scientific Reports, may improve AI’s ability to estimate necessary dataset sizes, pre-learn conditions, and enhance rapid decision-making capabilities, particularly in deep learning and robotic control. The study, led by Prof. Ido Kanter, also highlights a new connection between neuroscience and AI that could lead to more efficient learning algorithms. These advancements have the potential to significantly speed up how AI adapts and learns from new information.
