This Passover
Celebrate Our Legacy. Secure Our Future.
As we prepare to gather around the Seder table, we’ll do as generations before us have done: tell our story.
As if for the first time, we’ll recall our journey from slavery to freedom. We’ll break, hide and search for the matzah, sing seder songs, and reflect on the meaning of our traditions.
Regrettably for many, that precious legacy feels increasingly fragile — and at risk of being forgotten.
The generation that survived the Holocaust carried our culture, heritage and history forward. Their stories were told in Yiddish, Hungarian, Greek, Polish, Russian and Hebrew.
Their homes were filled with Jewish music, ritual, and wisdom. Sadly, that generation is slipping away and their children – many in their senior years – are among the last to remember their parents’ songs, customs, and the sacred moments that defined Jewish life.
Today’s generation? Many are turning away from Judaism.
Out of apathy, uncertainty, and even fear; Fear of being judged, fear of being on the “wrong” side of a political debate.
Fewer young Jews may be visiting Israel, and some hesitate to identify as Jewish or celebrate the holidays. Many are not passing on the values, culture and heritage that defines us.
But there is a place where Jewish identity is not fading. It is being renewed every day.
That place is Bar-Ilan University, where the story is alive, preserved and shared for the generations.
With your help, we can ensure our precious legacy continues.
Bar-Ilan is the only institution that brings together world-class research and academic excellence with a deep, daily commitment to Jewish values and heritage. It’s where:
- Future doctors study both nanotechnology and Jewish medical ethics.
- Law students learn about justice in both modern and traditional terms.
- The largest Faculty of Jewish Studies in the world trains the next generation of Jewish leadership.
Here, Judaism is not political, not outdated, not hidden.
Here, Judaism is lived: proudly, passionately, and with purpose.
This Passover, your gift to Canadian Friends of Bar-Ilan University will help pass our precious legacy.
Bar-Ilan students carry their Jewish identity into the next generation — not with nostalgia, but with vision.
Bar-Ilan is the university where Jewish studies are part of the curriculum for all students.
Your Passover gift today will fund scholarships to support students today for tomorrow.
